Your email domain hosting account will function in a completely normal manner when using our SSL certificate. People that you send mail to, and receive mail from, will not see anything other than your domain email address: you@yourdomain.com.
The only difference, is in things that only your internal users may notice; when setting up a POP/SMTP (standard email client) account, the secure email servers will be identified as mail.4securemail.com. Also, when checking Webmail, when you enter mail.yourdomain.com, you will be redirected to mail.4securemail.com. Your logins and passwords will function normally.
Although we see no technical reason to do so, if you would prefer to purchase and install your own SSL Certificate you may purchase one through us and we will install it for you. Sorry, we cannot install 3rd party certificates on our server – you must purchase it from us.
The good news – we have a special arrangement with a major certificate provider that will allow you to purchase a fully qualified SSL certificate for only $99 per year, a substantial savings over most providers.
Using your own SSL Certificate will require the use of a static-public IP address, at a cost of $5 per month.
Taking these optional extra steps will allow your mail servers to be identified as mail.yourdomain.com and your internal users webmail login would be at http://mail.yourdomain.com. Otherwise there is no difference. Please contact us if you prefer to use your own SSL certificate so we can set it up for you.
