Secure Email Configuration - Mozilla Thunderbird IMAP SSL

Secure Domain Email customers: If your secure email account with us uses a domain name other than "4securemail.com", simply use the correct name instead of the name "4securemail.com" wherever it appears in the instructions or the examples given. For instance, whenever you see "mail.4securemail.com" you would convert this to "mail.your-domain-name.com".

This document will help you to configure your secure email account with compatible Mozilla Thunderbird Email client to work with the mail.4securemail.com Secure Email Server system. The 4SecureMail secure email hosting solution is compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird.

Step 1: Secure Email Hosting - Client Account Settings

• Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
• Click on the Tools pulldown menu.
• Select "Account Settings"

Step 2: Add your Secure Email Account

• Click on the "Add Account" button.

Step 3: New Account Wizard (1)

• Make sure "Email account" is selected.
• Click "Next"

Step 4: New Account Wizard (2)

• In the Your Name text field, enter in your full name.
• In the Email Address text field, enter in your Secure Email account (ie: joeuser@4securemail.com).
• Click "Next"

Step 5: New Account Wizard (3)

• Select the "IMAP" option bubble.
• Enter mail.4securemail.com in the Incoming Server text field.
• Enter mail.4securemail.com in the Outgoing Server text field.
• Click "Next"

• Click "Next"

Step 7: New Account Wizard (5)

• Click "Next"

Step 8: New Account Wizard (6)

• Click "Finish"

Step 9: Outgoing Settings Configuration

• Click to select the "SSL" option bubble under the Use secure connection section.

Step 10: Incoming Server Configuration

• Click on "Server Settings" in the category list on the left.
• Click to check the "Use secure connection (SSL)" check box under the Server Settings section.
• Verify that your settings are similar to the following and click OK.

Step 11: IMAP Folder Subscription

In order to view the folders that you have saved on the secure mail server, you must subscribe to them.

• Right-click on the "Inbox" located in the list on the left.
• Select "Subscribe"

Step 12: Enter your Password

• Enter in your Secure Email password to log in

Step 13: Subscribing

• Select "INBOX" from the list
• Click on "Subscribe"

Step 14: Finished

• Click OK
• You are now ready to send and receive Email.
