Secure Email Configuration Mozilla Thunderbird POP SSL Email Account

Secure Domain Email Customers: If your secure email account with us uses a domain name other than 4securemail.com, simply use your domain instead of 4securemail.com wherever it appears in the instructions or the examples given. If you have purchased your own IP address & certificate, you may substitute any reference of mail.4securemail.com with your mail host name, e.g. mail.yourdomain.com.

This document will help you to configure your secure email account and compatible Mozilla Thunderbird Emailclient to work with the mail.4securemail.com Secure Email Server system.

Step 1: Account Settings

  • Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
  • Click on the Tools pulldown menu.
  • Select "Account Settings"

Step 2: Add your Account

  • Click on the "Add Account" button.

Step 3: New Account Wizard (1)

  • Make sure "Email account" is selected.
  • Click "Next"

Step 4: New Account Wizard (2)

  • In the Your Name text field, enter in your full name.
  • In the Email Address text field, enter in your 4SecureMail Secure Email address (ie: joeuser@4securemail.com).
  • Click "Next"

Step 5: Secure Email Account - New Account Wizard (3)

  • Select the "POP" option bubble.
  • Enter mail.4securemail.com in the Incoming Server text field.
  • Enter mail.4securemail.com in the Outgoing Server text field.
  • Click "Next"

  • Click "Next"

  • Click "Finish"

Step 9: Outgoing Settings Email Security Configuration

  • Click to select the "SSL" option bubble under the Use secure connection section.

Step 10: Incoming Secure Mail Server Configuration

  • Click on "Server Settings" in the category list on the left.
  • Click to check the "Use secure connection (SSL)" check box under the Server Settings section.
  • Although not required, it is recommended that you check the following options:
    • Leave messages on server
    • Until I delete or move them from Inbox
  • Verify that your settings are similar to the following and click OK.
  • You are now ready to send and receive email.
